The Lightwell House
Alteration and Addition
Project Overview
The Lightwell House reimagines an existing residence through a carefully resolved internal reconfiguration and contemporary rear addition. The proposal transforms the previously enclosed kitchen and living areas into a connected sequence of spaces centred around a generous skylight, drawing natural light deep into the home.
Large glazed openings strengthen the relationship between the kitchen, dining and living areas and the rear garden, while curved joinery, warm timber finishes and a restrained material palette create a calm and cohesive interior. Improved circulation, integrated storage and flexible open-plan spaces support the changing needs of contemporary family life.
By balancing the existing structure with a refined new intervention, the design creates a brighter, more generous and better-connected home shaped around gathering, movement and light.
